The latest restaurants projected to open in Orange County include a range of concepts — from an Asian bistro at Bloomie’s in Costa Mesa to a new Carl’s Jr. in Orange.
Here’s a list of restaurants expected to open soon in O.C.:
Rockin’ Baja will open its second Orange County cantina in Huntington Beach on Nov. 11. Famous for loading “Baja Buckets” with fresh seafood, Rockin’ Baja will be located at the Bella Terra mall. The chain is known for its rustic, surf-shack look and Baja-inspired seafood dishes and cocktails. See full menu here. A new Subway in Anaheim will celebrate its grand opening Nov. 6 & 7. On Friday, the first 207 guests will get a free regular 6-inch sub. The restaurant opens at 7 a.m. Address: 513 W. Chapman, Anaheim. The owners of Crustacean Restaurant in Beverly Hills plan to open AnQI at South Coast Plaza on Dec. 12. “AnQi will offer a fashionable, inviting bistro-style atmosphere that will highlight the An family’s legendary fine food in a more casual environment,” according to AnQI reps. The Euro-Vietnamese bistro will be located at Bloomingdale’s, which is also home to Charlie Palmer. South Coast Plaza seems to be undergoing a restaurant rejuvenation. AnQi (pronounced “On Key”) is among three major new restaurants coming soon to the ritzy mall. Other restaurants slated to open include Seasons 52 and Capital Grille steakhouse. CLICK HERE to learn more about those concepts. Cancun Juice, which took over the old Contodo Mexican Grill location in Orange, just opened. Besides juice drinks, the shop also serves tortas and burritos, according to Dan Garion of the Eat in O.C. blog. Thanks Dan for the update. Carl’s Jr. is slated to open a new restaurant in Orange at th e corner of Chapman Avenue and Tustin Street. Construction of a new building is underway in the same center as Fresh & Easy and Rite Aid. Expect the restaurant to open later this year, or early next year, city officials said.
Chick-fil-A at 22450 Old Canal Rd. in Yorba Linda will open in mid-January. What’s going on with Cafe Rio in Lake Forest? OC Weekly reports that a coming soon “sign” is finally up for this mysterious Utah-based Mexican chain headed to Orange County.
Wahoo’s has much more work to do compared to Francoli. I expect Francoli to open before Wahoo’s.The Habit plans to open burger joints in Santa Ana and Fullerton. (Full details here.) There’s pent-up demand from readers for any Five Guys Burgers & Fries news. I’m sorry to tell you that I don’t have any “official” updates. I can only say this: There could be an announcement soon about the chain’s first Orange County restaurant. So stay tuned. I promise you’ll find out as soon as I find out.

Carl’s Jr.!? I guess that makes sense, the closest ones to that location are East on Chapman near Prospect or down Tustin on 17th. Still sort of surprised the foundation they are putting in looked small for a Carl’s I thought it looked like the size of a Starbucks or Del Taco.
There is a Carl’s on Katella @ Tustin as well. They seem pretty close together.
apologies. I just read the earlier reply. I then clicked over to the closure list and saw that the Katella CJ is closed and that the Chapman store is a replacement.
Dan there is another Carl’s at Tustin & Katella to the north of this new location…………about 2 miles away………..that parking lot is so huge that it makes sense to put something there…………
Doh, I forgot about the Closest one! You would think I would remember since I live around the corner.
Dan……..are you bummed about Topz burgers closing?
I’m assuming you’ve never read my webite or my review of Topz!

Personally………….I was hoping for a Habit or 5 guys………….
Me too, but that would expand my stomach too much!
I hear ya Eric….But Habit is going to be close to us…near Main Place..not too bad…
Ugh. Chick-fil-a won’t open til mid January? Do you know why it’s taking so long?
Nope..I do not..BTW: Sorry to hear about Bliss Froyo closing…Were you still selling cupcakes there?
No I wasn’t. I stopped selling there a few months ago.
Nancy………………any idea if there is anything going in down at the newly remodeled CVS/ el pollo loco/ TJ max parking lot at Tustin and Katella?
Nothing official, Eric.
A guy I know, who’s from Utah, thinks Chipotle is “disgusting” and says that Cafe Rio is the real deal. I can’t wait to find out how wrong he is.
Bryan you look like Don Draper!
Hey Eric: I was told by property management over by the CVS that “something like In-N-Out” would be going in there but they were mum on further details. I go over there every couple of weeks to see what I can dig up on the place. They are really holding their cards CLOSE on this one.
As for Topz CLOSING I can only say this has come 1 year late. Tried it twice and was never impressed.
This is not food related, but I travel all the way from Costa Mesa to Orange to go to the best hardware store in OC: Arrow TruValue. They recently moved from Tustin and Collins up to Tustin and Katella. (Just an FYI for anyone who might be wondering).
I hadn’t noticed that! But I did notice there had seemed to be less cars in that parking lot lately.
What is Rockin Baja thinking with those prices??? Don’t they know people are not going to spend $11 or $12 for tacos. This place will not last long at Bella Terra just like all the other over priced places that are now gone. Good luck I won’t eat there.
re: Club Rio - perhaps what is taking so long is that they are totaly remodelng the building where it is going to be. Drive by just about everyday on my way home from work and the framing is in and the new roof is on.
FYI: ages ago at this location there was an H. Salt Fish (remember those?) and then it was something else and then it was a computer store and now it’s gonna be Club Rio - and something else. I don’t think CR will be taking up the whole space, but I could be wrong.
The only drawback to this location is the entry and egress, especialy if you are trying to get in via El Toro Blvd. It’s a little better coming off of Rockfield, but not much.
The old Adami/Skyy sushi place at Imperial & Santa Ana Canyon in Anaheim Hills has been gutted, and the permits have been pulled by a Sage Canyon restaurant. Any one know anything about it besides the name?
