Got back a couple of hours ago from the grand opening Yogurtland’s 50th froyo shop.

Fans who came to the grand opening in Anaheim were treated to two free Kogi Korean BBQ tacos.  The truck was an HOUR late, so we had a long wait in the heat before we got our food. But, I had a fun time catching up with my Twitter buds — @OrangeCountyGal and Christian @OCMex. You guys are awesome. (CLICK HERE for OCMEX’s write up of our adventure today.)

Thanks to Anaheim-based Yogurtland for the free food. That was a surprising treat. The short-rib and chicken tacos did not disappoint. And, the watermelon special drizzled with feta cheese & mint yogurt — Wow!

By the way, Yogurtland executives told me today that the chain will open their first froyo shop in Mexico City in early November.  In the U.S., the chain plans to open 30 more froyo shops by the end of the year.

More pics from today below:

Finally, Kogi arrives an hour late. At least we had some free froyo to cool us down

Finally, Kogi arrives.

Kogi splurges on a new upgraded menu! This one is much nicer than the others.

Yogurtland recently moved its headquarters from L.A. to Anaheim. This Anaheim store is the chain's 50th unit.

Watermelon with feta seems like an odd combination. I’ll have to try it myself.

Kogi is a rip off of Julia’s Seoul on Wheels in NorCal.

Once again Christian proves he knows nothing about good food. Kogi is overhyped and overrated!! Terrible! Oh and nobody cares about your lame blog pal! Get a life dude! Seriously at least Nancy is drawing a paycheck for hers.

Rob, remember the old adage? “If you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all.”

      Christian, I like your blog..

Rob . . . I think you might be reading things into this that I never said. Please point out to me where I said Kogi is good food. I’m not saying that I did or didn’t say it but that you can’t find where I said it so you are reacting against something you made up. My real personal opinion is that it is okay. I can take it or leave it, but I don’t have anything bad to say about it. I have no apologies for not slandering it just to appease you.

BTW, if you want you can submit guest reviews to my blog and tell everybody where they should eat. I actually pay for guest reviews. My blog is something I started up one day when work was slow. It is another thing I could take or leave but 400-500 people a day see fit to check it out.

Your writing style, sprinkled with plenty of fiction as it is, does have some entertainment value to it. You can write about all the restaurants you visit in Mexico three times a day from OC to get your REAL Mexican food. You are also welcome to start your own blog and tell about all the places in the county that residents should eat at. It’ll be easy for you because in your opinion there’ll be nothing to write.
