Check out these cool new aluminum Coca-Cola bottles.

The chic, retro bottles are currently available at the SLS Hotel in Beverly Hills, and will soon be coming to boutique hotels in the Orange County area, reps for the beverage giant said. (8/25 update: I was at Disneyland on Monday, and spotted the bottles being sold at a kiosk. See more info on comments below)

The new design comes in 8.5-oz bottles for Coca-Cola Classic, Diet Coke and Coke Zero only.

new-coke-bottles-vertTell us: I love the look, don’t you? I would love to see Coca-Cola sell these cans in BevMo or other beverage stores. Would you buy these new cans at the grocery store?

How much are they selling for? Very stylish!

  • I don’t know Anjolie. This is not for sale at any retail shop. Right now, it is an item offered at this BH hotel. The cans pictured are samples I got at work.

  • Gretchen says:

I would convert from Diet Pepsi to Diet Coke for those. Sleek.

  • Yes, the bottles look good. So, why doesn’t Coke go ahead and take the next step and make what’s inside TASTE good? Get rid of the HFCS and replace with cane sugar. Make Coke taste good again.

    • javi says:

because supposedly you are not willing to pay for the cost of actual cane sugar. they will most likely use beet sugar because it is cheaper if they would take that route. beet sugar is nasty

    • 1person says:

I already pay more for the bottled coke at Costco because it’s made with cane sugar. It just tastes better.

      • Laughing says:

Yeah. The Mexican Coke tastes so much better. I am more than willing to pay the upcharge for real sugar.

        • Bunny says:

I agree with you. The Mexican bottled coke has real sugar, stays carbonated all day if left out and it DOES taste better. I haven’t had one in years. The last one I had was bought in a liquor store in east la.

  • Kevin K. says:

This new look is very very cool, and reuseable to boot! Coke is really thinking ahead!! :)

  • Red Ryder says:

Looks good to me. I especially like the widemouth opening at the delievery end. Now… if only Coke tasted nearly as good as it’s competitors. Too bad…

  • Nicole says:

These are also available at Disneyland if you happen to be there. There’s a stand in Tomorrowland near the Autopia. $3.

  • mvmommy says:

I’m not that impressed. They remind me of the toy bottles my daughter had in her “kitchen”.
I say bring back GLASS bottles!

  • Mike says:

Very nice. I bet the aluminum makes the sodas nice and frosty just like the aluminum budweiser bottles. I would probably settle for the whatever container is cheapest though.

    • Stan says:

The aluminium can be easily recycled. The plastic can also be recycled, but the Aluminum can be made into new aluminum cans while plastic can not.

  • Freeze says:

What about the environmental impacts. These all seem to be heavier then a conventional plastic bottle of the same size. Heavier products to ship require the burning of more fuel. I’m not an environmentalist, but I can still see that this new container will be harsher on our environment than a plastic one.

  • Sadie & Millie says:

I would think the value of the Aluminum would be worth more than the contents of the container other wise. woof woof!

  • Yogi says:

No I wouldn’t buy them for the packaging, but I would buy them if the drink was made with sugar, instead of high fructose corn syrup. Now that would be high end…or would that be Mexican Coke?

  • Justice Scalia says:

I’d buy them if there was Pepsi inside…

  • felicia says:

well it seems like no one likes coke , then why is it i cant find one when i go to the store or if they do they r hot from just being put in looks to me like its alot of haters out there. get a life and get off of the coke i dont care what u put it in just keep puting it out !

  • Aztek says:

These bottles were available last May and June at Disneyland. Coca-Cola, who is a big sponsor of Grad Nites at Disneyland, passed out these bottles to the grads and Disneyland employees from their Coke Zero Pavilion they set up in Fantasyland and at the Coca-Cola dance club they have in Tomorrowland.

These aluminum Coke bottles were all over Disneyland this past spring. It’s nothing new to OC or SoCal at this point.

  • Catlee says:

They take after the aluminum bottles for beer that have been around for a while. 12 oz cans vs. 8.5 oz bottles…….I’ll stick with the cans!

  • Marley says:

Stylish new? You mean a “throwback”

  • ITsNotCoolToSayCool says:

Stop saying “cool” to everything in life. Its a ruse to try to fit into what you think everyone else thinks is socially acceptable.
Try a few other words, once in a while.
    Those new bottles suck, BTW.
Space age looking containers ruin the natural aesthetics of the beverage itself, but then again, I’m not trying to be “cool”.

  • claudia says:

    very nice :p

  • Anon says:

They also sell these at the Laguna Beach Festival of the Arts - all three of these along with a Sprite product in this sort of bottle, Sprite Green - it’s a Sprite made with lemon juice and Truvia, that adds up to 50 calories. It’s very good, I’ve had it several times - I work at the Festival.

  • TOM says:

These are the dumbest things I have seen in a long time. What a waste. Only an idiot would waste money on these.

  • fyi says:

what a rip off!! Who cares what it comes in. It’s all about Pepsi anyway!

  • Mary says:

Gosh… do you people ever write anything related to actual “news?” Or are ALL your “articles” thinly disguised gossip and advertisements? I remember reading the Register when it had items of local, national and global interest. Now it’s just a rag all those behind the Orange Curtain can read and pretend to themselves they’re keeping up with the world. They are… the crass, commercial, superficial world that exists ONLY within the Orange Curtain.
Ok… no more ragging on the Register. First of all, it’s too easy… second of all, there’s no point in reading it in the first place so there won’t be any reason to rag.
Let the Orangonians KEEP their eutopia… PUH LEESE.

  • Kelley says:

Quite pretty to look at, but when you break it down, it’s just a warped can of coke. I’d prefer to get the Mexican Coke sold in glass bottles for a buck at the local Mexican grocery store.

  • Mike says:

I hands-down would never buy any other brand of soda if I could get those bottles at the grocery store. Those need to go nationwide *now*.

  • Carnivore says:

Only 8-1/2 ounces? Good for kids, I guess, but heck, for adults, that isn’t even worth opening the bottle. Now if they offered them in, say, 16 ounces, maybe …

  • kmkm says:

Mexican Coke has real cane sugar??? Now THAT I would buy.

  • Marcus says:

    What?

‘Look at what I’m drinking from?’

Is that the draw? I don’t get it.

  • Spence says:

Oh, I get it! Pay the same or more for less actual product! What a great way to help your customers “feel the love”! (What a rip off…..)

  • jeff says:

    pepsi sux!

  • Rudy says:

We bought a few of these at the Coca Cola store in Las Vegas. They are pretty cool looking, but cost $3 each.

  • Bobby says:

    8.5 ounces??? What’s the point?

  • I like my Coke with plastic wrap and shaped into a brick. It makes it easier to store.

  • g says:

apparently none of you travel outside of the country, aluminum “bottles” have been used for coke and pepsi products in asia for a long time. unfortunately our over indulgent culture here in the US is not a good market for these smaller servings as we all want the largest amount possible of everything…coincedence that we are the most obese in the world as well?

  • Mr Dave says:

Last time I was in Tijuana, I bought some Coke and also Dr Pepper. Both are made with real cane sugar there and taste far better than the nasty HFCS laden varieties sold here.

  • HB_Dad says:

Make these 12-20 oz and offer the caffiene-free non-diet variation for those of us on caffiene free diets and I’d be a very happy camper!

  • Tone-Coke says:

8.5 oz??? 12 oz is minimum for me. Alum bottle is cool but not worth the extra cash.

  • ardo123 says:

Coke was giving these out at the newport beach film fest in April. I had SO many, it was amazing. I kept a can for each of the three types and would show em off to people. People would be like “whoa, where did you get those?!” Pretty funny actually.

  • madBOX20 says:

I work at a casino in Indiana and they are selling these for $3. Pretty expensive but so is everything in a casino. Haven’t tried one. Mainly because they seem like they will give you that metal taste.
