Before the economy tanked, many restaurants offered a Kids Eat Free night.
But, the list of Orange County eateries offering special family deals continues to grow as chains see it as a good way to lure budget-conscious diners.
For example, starting this Sunday, Z’Tejas at South Coast Plaza said it will launch a Kids Eat Free Night every Sunday from 4 p.m. to closing. The deal is good per adult entrée. A few weeks ago, El Torito began promoting a kids eat free program on Saturday before 3 p.m.
Avila’s El Ranchito Mexican restaurants offers free meals to kids, but the days vary depending on the restaurant location. For example, the Lake Forest Avila’s offers a free meal to kids on Sunday, with every adult purchase. However, other Avila’s restaurants offer free meals to children on Wednesdays and Tuesdays. (So, call ahead to find out more: Avila’s phone numbers/locations) Zov’s Neighborhood Cafés in Newport Coast and Irvine are offering a temporary kids night every night this week until Sunday, May 17. All kids 10 and younger may enjoy a free kids meal with the purchase of one adult entrée.
Also, come June 1, Ruby’s Diner is about ready to scrap its Tuesday night kids eat free program. The Newport Beach-chain halts the freebie program during the summer at all of its pier locations. Learn more here.

Islands Restaurant in Foothill Ranch has Kids Eat Free.
Kids eat free - as you drive there in a brand new leased Mercedes C class. You get out of your Benz wearing the Jimmy Choo shoes you just bought at Nordstrom, unbuckle your kid from the eddie bauer child seat. Okay come on lets go inside and eat - but don’t step in the puddle with the brand new Nike shoes we just got you. Okay now that we are inside wearing and driving thousands of dollars in stuff we just bought - lets save some money on food for junior!
To OC Max, not all of fit your supoosedly prejudiced view of OC women. I am a sinlge mother of an autistic child who lives paycheck to paycheck. Eating out is a treat and if I can treat my child to night out, I see nothing wrong in saving some money! There are more women and families more in my shoes in OC that you think!
