Arby's new Roastburgers

Arby's new Roastburgers

As many of you know, The Maven keeps track of New on the Menu food items and Recession Busting meal deals in Orange County.

In case you missed the most recent entries, here’s a summary of what I’ve discovered:

  • Take advantage of this deal before it’s too late. Savannah Chophouse, formerly Chat Noir in Costa Mesa, is offering some amazing “express” lunch deals Monday through Friday. Choices include: a $6 gourmet sandwich; a $6 soup or salad; or $10 entrees. The offer is good only from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily. Read more about menu choices here.
  • Just in time for Lent, Jack in the Box and Del Taco have re-introduced some old seafood favorites to lure diners. Del Taco is now serving shrimp tacos. Cost $1.89 each, or $5.99 for a two shrimp taco combo plate. Jack in the Box is also offering 2 for $3 fish filet sandwiches. (Jack in the Box freebie alert for March 10)
  • Arby’s introduced this week Roastburgers–  the chain’s answer to hamburgers. A Roastburger contains Arby’s thinly sliced roast beef with fresh lettuce, tomato, pickle, onion, ketchup, mustard and a secret sauce served on a specialty roll. So, it’s essentially a sandwich that looks like a burger. Other varieties include Bacon and Bleu Cheese and Bacon and Cheddar Roastburgers. Cost: $3.59 for a single or $4.59 for double the meat.
  • Arby’s Freebie Alert: On Sunday March 8, Arby’s will offer customers a free Roastburger sandwich with purchase of any size beverage. It’s a Daylight Savings gimmick, so you have to say: “Change my burger” to get the deal.
  • To celebrate St. Patrick’s Day (March 17), McDonald’s is bringing back the Shamrock Shake. Most Southern California McDonald’s are selling the green milkshake for $2, according to McDonald’s. Limited-time only.
  • La Habra-based El Cholo Restaurants has decided to let diners in on a little secret: You can get free nachos if you sit near the kitchen. All you have to do is ask your hostess to be seated at the “Nachos Table”, aka the “worst” table in the house.  El Cholo has restaurants in Irvine and La Habra.
  • This is just a partial list. To drool over more deals — make sure you view and bookmark these two blog categories: Cheap, but Chic Meals & New on the Menu

Cafe Maiz also has a nacho table. After I did my Cafe Maiz review a year ago they wrote to me about the nacho table and I added the info in.

Also, it looks like they have now added flan and the make-your-own guacamole thing to their menu.

Also, it looks like the comment system here is purposely blocking links to my blog.

    Nancy,

Not sure if you’re aware of this offer. I stumbled upon it while visiting the District’s website the other day.

Here it is: Chick-fil-a has a “March Madness” promotion. Make a purchase on any Saturday during the month of March, then on a return visit anytime in April present your receipt and your order will be duplicated for free. It basically amounts to a 2-for-1 deal.

I don’t know if this applies only to the Chick-fil-a at the District or if others are participating.
