Chipotle to open 15th O.C. eatery Friday

February 6th, 2009, 3:00 am · 6 Comments · posted by Nancy Luna, Staff Writer

Chipotle Mexican Grill is scheduled to open its 15th Orange County eatery today.

The new restaurant is at 1945 E. 17th St. in Santa Ana. It’s in the same retail center as Orchard Supply Hardware (OSH) and Cantaloop froyo shop.  The East Santa Ana strip center will also be home to Orange County’s first Buffalo Wild Wings.

The restaurant opens at 11 a.m. today.  Sorry, no freebies for this opening.

Why did you say ‘Sorry, no freebies for this opening’? Why should you be sorry and why should Chipotle give anything away for free? They’ve already established their brand and their product so there’s no reason to give it away for free when people are already willing to line up and pay for it. They are a company in business to make money.

I often read your blog, and it’s informative so thank you. However, why do you feel the need to always add these off-the-cuff comments to your stories? And on a technical note, just because I’m curious, how did the OCR approach you bloggers about these blog pages? Did they tell you all to disregard traditional rules of journalism and defined the blogs as something separate from the news pages?

LOL…NO FREEBIES, Nancy should be sorry all the freebies were given out to everyone that stopped by yesterday, the place was swarmed with people and the food was good as usual. Poor reporting chipotle always has give away the day before grand opening.

  • Duckie/Nick: Thanks for reading — I think… :)
I was told that yesterday’s mock opening was invitation only…thus no mention here….. I don’t list those private “freebie” events because I don’t want a consumer/reader to show up and get turned away. That being said, I’m glad Duckie got in, and got some free food. More power to you.
Have a great weekend everyone. Nancy

Last time at the Tustin store I got 3 little hard shell taco with some items with there blanket thrown on. Meaning they they dont stuff there tacos everything is kind of thrown on. Limited menu, seem pricey for what I got.

I took a stroll down to this Chipotle Thursday, it was not very crowded. I guess I was lucky enough to get one of the free meals offered up by Chipotle yum. Nancy don’t let duckie get to you, keep up the good work!
