big-mac-snack-wrap***12/09 UPDATE: Mac Snack Wrap coming to all McDonald’s

—————————-
Thanks to reader Juan, we know that McDonald’s might be testing a Big Mac Snack Wrap in other parts of the country. Here’s what he reported:

“I am a Californian working in Wisconsin for the time being. I was driving today in some outrageous snow storms and had to pull off the road to get a beverage. I saw this ad in Sheboygan, Wisconsin which is almost equidistant between Green Bay and Milwaukee.
This apparently is a Big Mac wrap. Never seen this before in my life.”

big-mac-snack-wrapWhat do you think? Would you like to see this Snack Wrap burger in Southern California?

    Does not seem kosher!

  • GO DUCKS says:

I would expect this sort of unappetizing ingredient remix from Yum Brands, disappointing to see it from McDonald’s. I guess a bowl with fries and a buger all mixed together is next.

  • GO DUCKS says:

I meant burger- but maybe that was a Freudian slip :)

  • macalayah says:

Thankfully, I do not eat ground beef!

  • supermo22 says:

Let Mickie’s D’s mix it up. There’s nothing like McD’s, Carl’s Jr. during that time of month…..but only once a month. Otherwise, one starts getting bloaty and huge…

  • We just have been informed that McDonald’s Store #1585 2925 Atlantic Blvd ,in Pompano Beach Florida is charging $0.35 for a cup of Water. Is this Legal ? They are making enough money to start charging for Water. !

  • jojo says:

Wraps are suppose to be on the healthier side of things maybe no one has informed Mcdonalds yet!

  • Mke says:

I think I would rather just buy a big mac.

  • Amy says:

A wrap is a good idea, but the beef should have been the first thing to go. (And yes, ideally it should be a replacement, not an alternative.) Mmm, no beef, no bun. That’s my kinda Big Mac.

  • hhrguy07 says:

I live in Kenosha Wisconsin and they just started this about a week ago, its just like a big mac just no bun and wrapped up in a flour tortilla, its a $1.49. I had 3 in the past week and they are damn good! new favorite from there.

  • Mike says:

in the chicago area, McD’s is just calling this item a * hamburger wrap* tried it, was ok. just hate the term wrap, if its in a tortilla, CALL it
    a burritto

  • Ronin says:

This wrap should be in a lettuce wrap….. who wants all those refined grains from the tortilla….. Long Live Carls Jr…. they will wrap any buger in lettuce for me

  • R-2 says:

It seems to me they are trying to make the burger look healthier. I cannot imagine it is THAT much better for you than the three buns. Then add the fries and soda. Hmmm….the more buns…..well…the more buns.
I would still prefer the lettuce wrapped burgers at In n Out.

  • Jay says:

I don’t think that would fly out here. That seems more of a East Coast thing.

  • GreeneggWoodGrilledfoodlover! says:

First macky’s needs to go back and just try wrapping up the (All) burgers in paper instead of just throwing them in the cold little box. Every burger or fish sand I get just last weak! is eaither cold or a F-up bun! Why not make a (Grilled) not fried!!! type food Item WTF?? Green egg Brothers Unite

  • Jamie says:

I live in Wisconsin also and the Big Mac Wrap is AWESOME! It’s the perfect size to help you with that Big Mac craving—but not have to eat the entire huge Big Mac. Yum!

  • Phil McCracken says:

I think nos 3 and 16 are people from the ad campaign just put some goofy Macdonald’s commercial music behind those two and ….

  • cristo says:

Just like every other competetor, mcd’s is only trying to keep up on the game!this is not gonna be any healthier, just because the 3 bread piece is eleminated.try again.bring back the mcrib!or mozzarella sticks!

  • Scott says:

I am very happy to hear all your comments. I am a manager of a McDs in Green Bay and am excited to see how this goes over. Thank you all for the comments that I have read so far…both Neg and Pos. Y’all have a great 2009 and thank your for SUPPORTING YOUR LOCAL MCDONALDS!!!

  • Scott, I’m so glad you wrote in. Do you happen to know if McDonald’s plans to expand this product to other markets?
And, was this a corporate idea, or an operator’s idea?

  • Lisa says:

I have to say - my husband and I happened to try the Big Mac wrap one evening in Hammond, Indiana and I was really surprised at how good it was. About a week later we went to the McDonald’s that is closer to our house specifically for this. They didn’t have it. Big Mac is my selection of choice but I always order it “light on the sauce”. With the Big Mac wrap - the sauce was perfect. There was another new wrap too (LZT or something like that). We ordered that too to try it and to me it was just blah. Nothing great at all. My husband liked it because of the onions but we both agree that the Big Mac wrap was really good. Personally, I hope they keep it and get it into our local McDonald’s soon. Perfect size for me with less carbs.

  • ChrisK says:

We went to the Houston Musuem today, and McDonald’s is the only restaurant there. I had to either starve for another 4 hours or pick something off their menu and eat with my husband and grandkids. I was intrigued by the Big Mac wrap. I ordered it, and it was good! I would love to see the nutritional information on it, and while probably not as healthy as the salad would have been, it sure took a bite out of my “burger craving”. Nothing is as good as a nice, thick Big Mac, but I would definitely order this again if the information comes back more favorable.

  • Erik says:

I LOVE the Big Mac wrap. It’s very delicious and quite satisfying for its size. If you want to make it healthy, you could always slice one up and put it on a side salad. That would be much tastier than any of McD’s current salad selections, and would probably have far less sodium.

I agree with the previous poster who said that they’d like to see one of these wrapped in lettuce instead of a tortilla. For that matter, I’d like to see the Big Mac sauce placed into packets and offered as a salad dressing option. With all due respect to the late great Paul Newman, he never made anything that was half as tasty as Big Mac sauce.

  • Jonathan says:

I’m from Milwaukee (Wisconsin) and everyone I know loves the snack wrap mac! It’s easier to drive and eat a snack mac too (a lot cleaner). My comment is that I think this is the way the mac was meant to be eaten! If you haven’t tried it, you have to find a place to eat one before commenting. For your sakes, I hope it hits other markets.

  • Marc960 says:

I hope the wrap hits OC soon. I get a Mac craving occasionally, it brings back memories of affordable food while in college. Of course back them the put in enough meat to satisfy.

Nowadays I order a Mac with a side plain hamburger. I scoop out the “extra” sauce in the middle and replace it with the burger patty.

Hopefully the wrap will up the meat-to-bun ratio. Probably won’t fall apart from too much sauce either.

  • chris says:

I just called the 800 corporate number to get the nutritional information about the big mac snack wrap and they don’t have that information. That doesn’ help the consumer now does it.

  • Christina says:

This is gross. Why ruin the traditional BIG MAC!!!!!!!

  • Barbara says:

On the way to Chicago last summer, I stopped at a McDonalds in Michigan City, IN and they had the Big Mac Wrap. I had never seen it or heard about it before and was hesitant about ordering it, but my friend convinced me to try it…. It was AWESOME!!!! I actually liked it better than the original Big Mac. I wish McDonalds would make the Big Mac Wrap available everywhere…Yummy.

  • Frederique says:

This is on the regular menu in Canadian McDonald’s. The beef portion is very small considering it costs 2 dollars, but it’s surprisingly similar in taste to the original.

  • margaret says:

does anyone know how many calories are in one of these Big Mac Wraps???

  • Stephen says:

    According to Mcdonalds Canada website:
    Calories: 350
    Fat (g): 21
    Saturated Fat (g): 8
    Trans Fat (g): 0.5
    Cholesterol (mg): 45
    Sodium (mg): 640

  • Suz says:

I’ ve had these and they are great!!!

  • bob says:

saw this at the milan, michigan mcdonalds two days ago . tried it and liked it. asked at the local mcdonalds near flint got a awkward silence and no but we have a big mac sandwich .

  • Jordan says:

I reviewed these back in March for my website. They were absolutely horrible. Heck, even the price was terrible when you compare it to the Big Mac.

  • Vale King says:

I live in Florida, and was visiting Michigan last week. I saw the Big Mac snack wrap offered, and had to try it. The Big Mac, is the only sandwich, I will have at Mcdonald’s. I thought it was awesome. A little more special sauce of course. Hope to see it here in Brevard County soon.

  • terry says:

    had a wrap today

    major disappointment

it was more like a little Mac

    real rpblem here
thought I was getting a big mac without the bun

got a big mac without the stuff

It will die as the expectations are a big mac and result is a
very little mac- dumb move- no more

  • carol says:
