Chipotle, Buffalo Wild Wings opening at new O.C. retail center

Chipotle Mexican Grill continues its expansion tear in Orange County as the chain plans to open its second gourmet burrito joint in Santa Ana.

Chipotle recently opened its 14th burrito eatery in Huntington Beach. The new one in Santa Ana, at 1945 E. 17th Street, is slated to open Jan. 23. (Google map here)

The location of the new East Santa Ana restaurant is odd, although incredibly convenient to my work.

It’s tucked in a new retail center near Orchard Supply Hardware (OSH). If you blink, you might miss the center. Hopefully, the developer will do a good job of promoting the new eateries in the area.

Watch out Baja: The new Chipotle is also across the street from a Baja Fresh Mexican Grill, so I wonder what the Baja folks will think of the new competition.

Also slated for this new Santa Ana strip mall — a Buffalo Wild Wings. I think this might be the first BWW in Orange County. The chain’s website does not list a location in the area.

Buffalo Wild Wings is one of the fastest-growing fast-food chains in the country. I’ll be excited to give it a try when it opens.

    I LOVE CHIPOTLE

A mile from work, but a short walk from my house - hard to go wrong. But you’re right that it’s a bit of a odd location. I assume they’re banking on the hospital employee traffic and the general lack of quick eateries on Tustin Ave. between 1st and 17th.

    Worth it…

After spending a few years back East I became hooked on Buffalo Wild Wings aka B-dubs. I have been waiting forever for one to open on the West Coast.

Yes for Chipotle…I know many of you hate the place, maybe you guys are lacking on how to build you burrito correctly!

  • I agree with JoJo. Build without rice — that’s the key.. Also, the salads are pretty decent.

  • Josh says:

I ate at a Buffalo Wild Wings in North Carolina and they served me raw chicken.

  • Jo says:

Josh- it wasn’t raw, just cooked to a medium-rare.

There already are BW3s on the west coast. Just not Orange County. You need to journey to San Bernadino county (Rancho Cucamonga). This is very good news for wing lovers.

i live on the other side of the brick wall of where that Buffalo Wild
Wings is going to open up and i just cant wait! i went there a couple of times when i lived in Roanoke, VA and i thought the place was pretty cool. i cant really remember how good the wings were though. i often go to Wingnuts and they have a large selection of sauces. i dont think BWW has that large of a selection. But what i do remember is that they really hook it up with the Sports watching experience, but who do i want to see play in VA? the Hokies???? puhlease!. I can barely see the TV’s at Wingnuts, if this BWW is anything like the ones in Roanoke, then they should have a ton of TV’s and a Projector screen. I cant wait to watch a Laker game there once they open.
