Update: Went there Sunday after 6:30 p.m. and the samples were all gone. Sounds like the shop got a lot of folks. Try again on Tuesday, they said.

Freebie alert: The Perfect Circle, a new cupcakery set to open later this week in Old Towne Orange, is giving away free samples tonight (Sunday) starting at 5 p.m.

The shop is at 165 N. Glassell St., near Maple Street. For a review of the cupcake shop’s treats, read the Cupcake Activist. The shop is expected to open on Tuesday.

Plus, don’t forget Morton’s The Steakhouse is giving away free steak sliders tonight from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. to celebrate the chain’s 30th birthday. For more details, go here. I’m taking my father-in-law, a big steak eater, to the Morton’s in Anaheim. Maybe I’ll see you there.

Got there at 6:30 p.m., and they were open but ALL OUT of samples. They said they got swarmed! Oh well. I’ll have to try again later this week. Did anyone try them out?

I called them a few minutes ago to see if they’re open but no one answered. I hope it’s because they’re busy. I’ll go to Tokyo Cafe for some sushi and then see if a cupcake chaser works.

My in-laws stopped by this morning, and reported people milling about, but no cupcakes! Also, sign on door said, “OPEN” but clearly it was not. What’s up?

OK, I just got off the phone with them and they are NOT open today. They are taking orders but are still going through start up issues so it doesn’t look like, according to them, they’ll be open with a full display case until next week. According to the gentleman I spoke with, he says they want the doors open as bad as their new customers but it won’t be until after the Christmas weekend, at the soonest.

Eating Fool, thanks for the update. I’m sorry if I misled anyone by the false start! One thing’s for sure: this place knows how to create some hype! My neighbor told me he tasted samples of the chocolate cupcake with peppermint frosting on Sunday. He liked them. We’ll try again next week..
