Subway deal in Orange, plus $5 sub update

Olympic champion Michael Phelps recently signed a deal with Subway

The new Subway in Orange, 125 N. Tustin Avenue, is having a buy one get one free sub sale this weekend: Dec. 12-14.

This Subway, near Rite Aid and the new Fresh & Easy, used to be a Quiznos. I called the store, and the employee answering the phone said the deal is good only at this store because it’s new.

Speaking of Subway deals, I recently spoke to marketing executive Tony Pace about the status of the $5 sandwich. He said the “limited” time only $5 sandwich deal will likely remain a permanent feature on the Subway menu due its popularity.

He said the $5 sub options will continue to rotate, as well.

But is it hurting profits? Pace said food prices are coming down slightly, making this low-margin deal a bit more worthwhile for franchisees.

Tell us: What sandwiches would you like Subway to add to the $5 menu?

If I recall my Penny Saver that I get in the mail every week has a coupon for “Buy one get one free with a purchase of a drink” and a coupon for 2 12 inch Subs for $8.99. Those coupons are every week. The 2 day New Orange Subway deal is nothing big when you can get that at most Subways with the Penny Saver coupons…….Just some info for before you run down there..

Many months ago when they first started the $5 foot long thing………….I visited my local Subway after not visiting one for at least 5 years………as they were making my $5 sandwich I noticed that my $5 sandwich’s normal price was $5.19……….

I don’t know about you but, I just don’t too excited about a $5.19 sandwich for $5 bucks!

I’d like to see EVERY sandwich be $5! =) Wishful thinking… haha..

I’d like to see the BMT for $5 — when they first started the $5 deal, it was included, but not anymore.

Subway has changed so much in the past year! Their food is much better, the quality is much better, and even the employees seem friendlier. I love this place now and have lost alot of weight eating the low fat subs. They now have 8 subs for $5 and some of them like the chicken is at a $1.59 discount!!!

I think Subway should first get rid of their $5 footlong cold cut combo sandwich before adding another. As far as I know, a cold cut combo includes more than one meat type.
