This looks like a better deal than last Friday’s Coffee Bean discount. Starting today, Starbucks is offering 20 percent off the following retail goods:
Starbucks said the sale is good through Dec. 15.
By the way, Starbucks Chief executive Howard Schultz chatted with CBS Evening News anchor, Katie Couric, on Monday night. The Los Angeles Times’ Daily Dish blog obtained a transcript of the interview between the toothy-anchor and Schultz.
Here’s how Schultz responded to Couric’s pricing question:
“We are not going to fracture the Starbucks experience,” he says. (In other words: Starbucks is not going to lower prices.) See video here.

Starbucks brings back Schultz who has to fix a very dire situation, close hundreds of non-performing and poorly located stores, and manage falling sales coupled with rising expenses.
He goes on these interviews with Katie Couric, Fox Business News, CNBC, The Wall Street Journal, etc. and says we are not really cutting prices on our core product (beverages, pastries, sandwiches and snacks), other than testing a $1.00 coffee with refills.
So, for me, by purchasing the gift cards at Costco with an immediate 20 percent discount, coupled with the merchandise discount of 20 percent which is an effective discount of 36 percent on the merchandise, 20 percent on the drinks and food items, but Schultz says he’s not lowering prices. I’m confused.
I guess a 20 or 36 percent discount is not lowering prices.
LOL
Starbucks for me is now the “in” place to go. Before, I had to rely upon the House of Ronald for free Wi-Fi, courtesy of my home telephone DSL service with AT&T.
Now that Starbucks and AT&T have gotten in bed with each other, instead of going to McDonald’s when I need free Wi-Fi, sitting on hard plastic seats and listening to screaming kids in the play area, I can now sit on the comfortable couch and love seats at Starbucks and drink overpriced hot chocolate and surf the Internet for free!
Thanks to AT&T for $10.00 a month DSL and free Wi-Fi at most McDonald’s, Barnes & Noble and Starbucks…and we don’t even have a “bundle”! LOL
The genius of Schultz is getting billions in free publicity over the last 20 years.
I was happy to see it again this year. Last week a manager did not think they were going to do it this year.
If you want the BEST deal, use those Costco cards like A V Rabinowitz said, and during the 20% off week and buy an espresso machine and burr grinder on sale to make your own at home. Then, do the math…. wow …what savings! For me, it is about $3000 a year.
