Thank God for Kellogg. The food giant has bought the rights to the trademarks and recipes of Mother’s Cake & Cookie Co., a move that will save the famous pink and white cookies from extinction.
Here’s what the Associated Press had to say:
“Kellogg will use its understanding of the cookie category and distribution infrastructure to expand sales of Mother’s Cookies. The company said it plans to reintroduce many of Mother’s Cookies most popular cookies. Its brands include iced animal crackers, sandwich cookies and wire cut cookies.”

Mother's Cookies will make a comeback
Kellogg also makes Frosted Flakes, Cheez-Its and Eggo waffles.

This news should please many Maven readers. Many of you expressed dismay when I wrote that the cookie maker had closed its manufacturing plant in mid-Octboer after filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
We no longer have to mourn.

THANK YOU KELLOGG. It’d be a real loss if our kids and all life’s future kids couldn’t have a Animal Cookie.
Yes! Thank you for the great news. I hope they keep them just the same.
SAVE FLAKY FLICKS!!!!!!!SAVE FLAKY FLICKS!!!!!!!!! Nothing else compares to those.
YAY!!!!!! Thank You, Kellogg!!!!!
Woo Hoo! Circus Cookies are the best.
I say, “Thank you, Kellogg’s”, too. I have such fond memories of eating those Mother’s Cookies, esp. the circus animals. I have diabetes, so I could only have maybe one or two now… What a happy day for those who are able to eat them. Yummmm!!!
Long after you posted the news about them going out of business I found a bag of Circus Animal cookies at Sav-On and bought it. Unfortunately they tasted awful. I’m hoping it was just a bad batch. When I had some a couple months before they were fine.
i lived on these as kids, i now live and GA and can not got them , I hope Kelloges will promot it nationally
My dad ships a few bags a year to us
Thank goodness!
Fabulous!
My kids were heartbroken. Mothers Circus Animals are the best!
This news nearly brought my husband to tears. We stockpiled Circus Animal cookies when the original announcement came out and were down to our last bag.
I’m glad my Circus Animal cookies won’t be extinct. Yea!
yea for kellogs, they were behind all of us mothers people losing our jobs. they knew they buying us last year, but didnt want union people working for them.so they devised a way to screw us out of our jobs legally. we’LL see if was legal or not eventually.
great to read - I was lamenting the loss of Mothers!! boo!
I polished off my “last” bag of Mother’s last month and it was pretty sad. now I’m happy again
Thank GOD, my husband is so happy now.
Kellog’s you made my year!!!!!!! I have live in GA now, but have lived in CA almost all of my life, and was sickened that part of my childhood could not be relived eating the best cookies in the world. I hope they will now be more widely distributed. I can’t wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I cannot thank KELLOG enough for saving a good piece of American goods. These brand of cookies are the best. What an incredible decision from the top level execs.
I have always loved the Circus Animal cookies. About two months ago I finished off the last of 20 bags I bought when it was announced they were going to be gone. I wanted my two boys to enjoy them too.
To my shock when my oldest sone (8 years old) was shopping wiith my wife and my other son (Age 5) along with our new baby girl and he told me he had this HUGE surprise for me when I got home.
I get home and there is this box wrapped up, it is not even close to my birthday. I opened it up and there was ONE bag of cookies and I asked where did this come from, did we have another bag and they told me NO. They bought them from the store. I did even see this article in the internet that they were coming back.
I was so excited we all finished the bag that night.
