Update: Photos of new chic Jack in the Box logo, added Tuesday morning.
If you follow trading of Jack in the Box stock, you should know that the chain announced plans to move its stock exchange listing from The New York Stock Exchange to The NASDAQ Stock Market.
The move takes place Dec. 15, the San Diego chain said Monday. The company will change ticker symbols that day and will begin trading under “JACK.” The current ticker is JBX.
New Jack logo?: Speaking of new things at Jack in the Box — Has anyone seen the new logo the chain is testing in the San Diego area? The company is testing a new look that won’t be revealed until next year. If you spot the new sign before me, take a picture and send it my way. Email nluna@ocregister.com
12/2 PHOTO UPDATE: Readers have emailed me photos they found via Flickr. Here’s one, example. I’ll add more links here, or in comments, as I get more. The new look is very chic, and modern. This one in is kinda cool, if you are a “Jack Box” fan. Other logos seem to have the same color scheme, but without the “Jack” image.
Foodie in Disguise, just sent me this link to a picture on Flickr.
Thanks Foodie!

You’re most welcome!
To me, the new logo looks like they want to elevate themselves. Fast food, yet upscale…
Just a note, the photo credit on Flickr is thr5.
“To me, the new logo looks like they want to elevate themselves. Fast food, yet upscale…”
That’s what they did when the 80’s came along. They blew up the clown and started serving up “serious” fast food.
I’ve seen this logo somewhere in OC recently…. as I sit here trying desperately hard to remember where I saw this last month. I remember looking at it and realizing it was a new logo for the old chain.
Hmm….. maybe where I saw this was in San Diego after all, since I had to go to a wedding down there a few weeks ago. Oh well, I think it’s a cool new look for them.
I’m not a big fan of their burgers, and I’ll never forgive them for blowing up the clown 25 years ago. But, I do occasionally swing through for one of their Oreo shakes with the whipped cream and cherry on top. Those are great!

Saw it in San Diego at 901 Carlsbad Village Dr, Carlsbad, CA this week too, but didn’t snap a picture.
Big mistake, brand is all about Jack, and yet they look like a non-descript Chipotle instead.
That’s it Bazily, I couldn’t put my finger on it, but then when you said Chipotle…
I agree….
I really like the logo they have now. It’s easy to spot when you’re driving. Mr. Jack, don’t mess with a good thing!
Wow, it really does remind me of the Chipotle sign too. I don’t like this style, it just doesn’t say fast food to me. I loved the 1960s style of signage and buildings, it was more fun rather than corporate.
This isn’t the first time they had a silhouette of Jack in their signage. Some JITB’s had signage with a more clownish Jack (hat, head, but with 3-4 parallel circles to represent a clown collar) at an angle inside the red square. If I find a picture I’ll send it in.
As promised the original Jack silhouette logo:

That’s really cool. Forgot about that one. Thanks for all the submissions. Keep ‘em coming.
“Don’t Fix It if aint Broken!” Has Jack lost his Mind? What are thinking changing there logo? If they are going to change something, bring back the Bonus Jack sandwich.
Love the new logo, how about this type of title…Jack in the Crack! LOL
Now, bring back the Bonus Jack!
For a while in San Diego, they converted a Jack In The Box store in Hillcrest to a concept store called JBX. It was fancier and had a different menu. It was around for a while > 6 months and then they flipped it back to a regular Jack In The Box.
Here’s a link on the stores:

The silhouetted Jack looks like “The Men In Black” found a new HQ. I suspect a greater increase of Elvis sightings and talking dogs who smoke Camels coming in and out looking for passports if they go with that one. Very cool I think.
Troy, they redeemed themselves for blowing up the clown. When they first brought Jack back they did a commercial you should really appreciate. Here is the link to Youtube:

It was only on the air maybe 2 weeks before they were forced to pull it.
I find the new logo offensive.
Looks like the silhouette of a KKK member.
What were they thinking?
How about they change the name to Jack in the Butt?
YUCK, I hope they don’t go with that logo. It’s fradulent: Jack is fast food, it shouldn’t pretend to be anything else.
I don’t like it at all. I do like the “Bowls are bad for Haircuts, Good for Food” bill board ads though.
thefloyd, great job, I have never seen that commercial. Totally awesome. I love Jack’s commercials.
They remodeled the Jack in the Box at Sand Canyon off the 5 with the new colors and branding. It looks nice - with real booths. Definitely more upscale than before.
Their burgers are over-priced and gross. I got a salad once and it had me on the toilet immediately after I ate it. The only thing I can stand to eat from Jack in the Crack is the egg, sausage, cheese biscuit. As far as the logo….who cares…work on FOOD QUALITY.
This is news? If so, the Register is many, many, many months behind…I saw this logo in August at a JITB in Carlsbad…this paper is a joke
To the executives at Jack in the box- I give you two words to remember.
“New Coke”.
Save your money.
I liked it when I could speak into the original Jack in the box.
Here’s another picture of a “cup” with a logo.

Come back Jack,
To leave the New York Stock Exchange is to err, especially right now. I predict a riot!
mmm fish & chips
As a franchisee (not a Jack in the box), when they changed our logo it was a mistake! Hey corporate… come up with different products, don’t change your logo. Doing so doesn’t improve your product or image, it just makes it harder to see a otherwise recognized products location. Why not take the persons responsible for this idea, grind their bodies into a bloody paste to come up with a new red for the current Jack in the Box sign? Think of the severance pay you will save.
Please leave the logo alone. The new one is confusing and doesn’t make the restaurant easy to spot quickly.
Did anyone else ever see the short-lived Jack commercial done in the COPS TV show style? I saw it ONE TIME while up late-night channel surfing several years ago and have never seen any mention of it again. It was surprising to say the least!
I don’t get it. They invest billions in advertising building the identity, millions on legal fees protecting it, then they contemplate changing the whole thing. For What? It really does remind me of Chipotle too. The look is too sophisticated for their demographics. It’s a waste of money to change. Jack ought to blow up the boardroom again.
The new logo is a good match for Jack In The Box, with sort of a retro-diner appeal. The old logo is just that. Old. Worn out. Tired. Not a design classic, and never was. Those sillynannies out there who hate the new logo will, I believe, be surprised to find their childhood/teen/college/whatever memories of JITB remain intact. Also: “What”, there’s no way a salad you had at JITB one afternoon could have you “on the toilet” immediately after — food poisoning, even a mild case, takes at least 12 - 18 hours to become evident. More than likely it was something you prepared at home.
I believe Jack in the Box is changing their logo, and this is why they are presenting the “Hang In There Jack” website … if he dies, the logo goes away — but if he lives — the old logo stays.
they did this in the 80’s They blew up Jack and changed the name to Montery Jacks.
That lasted a year or two and they switched back without the clown
