That one across from Saddleback in Mission Viejo was horrible. They weren’t even open on Sundays, then, they opened one just down the street that was and had a drive through. Sure college students have to go one more block to get to it, but it is a better store.
It is that sort of over saturation that killed them.
Not a surprise at all, and I might expect more to close up soon.
I just did a check on Yellow Pages of nearby Starbucks. There are 19 locations within a 3 mile radius of my work place. 19!!!!!!
The one at 703 E. Imperial at Laurel in Brea closed a long time ago…not sure why it says it is still open.
Starbucks is concentrating on increasing market share in China.
These store closings here will add needed revenue for their global expansion business plan.
who needs more baristas anyways
Is this supposed to make me sad?
HAHAHA.
Thats what they get for charging $5 for a cup of coffee.
Good Bye Starbucks!
Dear DUCKHUNTER - No, it is not to make you sad, but to inform you. The article might have included that a cup of coffee does NOT cost $5 either. But then, YOU would be better informed and perhaps less sad.
This is good Sat. night liver coverage. . . bored people with nothing else to do all day and then make comments that are not accurate. . . do you ever read the paper? ? ? ? ? ??
the drive thru starbucks on 17th and harbor has shut down also ! i presume it was due to the lack of customer service and how slow they were…
Isabel, thanks for the update. When did it close? This store is not part of the original list.

I still miss Diedrich’s Coffee.. There was one in Tustin; on the corner of Newport Ave. and Main St. Then it became a Starbuck’s. Now, that’s gone..
The Starbucks at Newport and El Camino has shut down. Too bad, I liked that one.
Hi Judith,
I miss Diedrich’s too, The roaster that was there,,,the fresh bean smell, Have you been to Martin Diedrich’s new place,,,Kean Coffee in CM? Named for his son,,he is still freshly roasting beans and it says here there will be a new Keans at the old Diedrich location early in 2009.
Diedrich’s is where I learned all about coffee,,,Enjoy,,:)
why is there to star bucks cady corner from each other in orange at the cirlce
lol hahahahaha $5.00 coffee you think? i heard they were looking for a bail out.
I’m not surprised that the Tustin location at Newport and El Camino Real closed…I hated going there! Starbuck’s is alot like Conroy’s (Flowers)…if they can get a corner location, they will take it…but at this location, they were greedy and got a corner spot next to a freeway on-ramp, along w/ a few other businesses…the only problem was, it appeared as though the parking lot was an after-thought, especially considering the amount of traffic a a typical Starbuck’s brings!
There are 5 Starbuck stores in my neighborhood. Two of them across the street from the other. Maybe Starbucks should have been more concerned about their customer service in their stores, rather than how many stores they can open then put people out of jobs.
Ive never been to a coffee house. Am I missing something?
I miss Tullys. Starbucks isn’t as good and the new drive-through on Lake Forest, while convenient, is soooooooooo sloooooooow. They need more than one person making drinks if they’re going to serve walk in and drive up. Thank goodness they are keeing the one on Muirlands. That one rocks and they are fast. Still miss Tullys.
