Cherry on Top franchisee Nick Sepehr is celebrating the grand opening of his first froyo shop by offering a great special: From 11 a.m. to midnight today (Friday, Sept. 26), the new Irvine store is giving customers 50 percent off their purchase.
The new self-serve shop is near UC Irvine, so this is sure to be an attractive detour for students. (see address below)
The low-down: Buena Park-based Cherry on Top is one of several new frozen yogurt chains invading Southern California. It offers 10 flavors and 60 toppings. Unlike classic froyo chains like Golden Spoon Yogurt, Cherry on Top and others such as Yogurtland and Tutti Frutti allow diners to serve themselves. It’s like buffet-froyo.
Cherry on Top’s Irvine address: 2646 Dupont Circle, Irvine. (Same shopping center as Daily Grill and The Melting Pot.) Cherry on Top has seven shops in Orange County. Remember, the 50% off deal is only good today at the new Irvine location.
Speaking of Grand Openings in Irvine: Don’t forget that 85 C Bakery Cafe, a Taiwan-based gourmet pastry shop, opens today at the new Diamond Jamboree Shopping Center in Irvine. It’s the chain’s first American unit. Read my special Preview Report on 85 C for more details.
Also, many other stores are opening Saturday at the new Asian-themed mall, including a Korean market chain H Mart. The grocery store is giving away goodie bags on Saturday. By the way, the “H” in H Mart stands for Healthy, Humane, Happy and Heartful. The East Coast grocer is known for its “well stocked” pan-Asian food products, according to media reports. The Irvine store appears to be the chain’s first in California.
