Just when I think Domino’s and Pizza Hut have stopped throwing punches, someone offers up a right hook.
I drove by a Domino’s joint in Orange over the weekend and spotted a sign promoting four “NEW” pasta dishes.
Is this Domino’s response to Pizza Hut’s successful new line of Tuscani Pasta dishes?
Not quite, said Domino’s spokesman Tim McIntyre. The four “single-serve” pasta meals are being tested in Southern California and a few other markets around the country. They are not meant to go head-on with Pizza Hut’s larger, family-size pastas, he said.
“They are just in the test phase. The selections are chicken alfredo, Italian sausage marinara, chicken carbonara and pasta primavera,” he said. “We certainly have paid attention to Pizza Hut’s launch of pasta, and have chosen not to go with pasta as a replacement to pizza; instead, we’re seeing how they perform as a complement to pizza or as an alternative item if everyone in the family wants pizza except mom (for example).”
Starting price for the Domino’s pasta dishes: $4.99. The bigger portion Tuscani pastas at Pizza Hut cost $12.99. I’ll try some later this week, and let you know what I think. (click on images to enlarge)

Boy, I can just hear all those fat, lazy people out there smacking their lips, drooling over these new pasta offerings.
Disgusting!
Why is this even news?
YUMMY!!! I can’t wait to try them all. I am going there straight after school and gonna buy at least 3 flavors. See you there!
Well, I’m thin and gorgeous and I like Pizza Hut’s marinara pasta!
Dominos pasta is actually pretty good especially considering its only 5 bucks.
There are actually 5 varieties of Pasta Perfecta at Domino’s. The one not mentioned in your article is a 3-cheese Mac ‘n Cheese. These are in the test phase so prices may change, but currently the prices are: Mac n’ Cheese $4.99; Italian Sausage Marinara & Chicken Alfredo are $5.99 each; and the Chicken Carbonara and Pasta Primavera are $6.99 each. Enjoy!
tried pizza hut’s, made me sick.
tried domino’s, i can make better pasta than that.
bottomline: make your own, much better!
I tried the Dominos Italian Sausage and marinara and it was so good I would not think twice about ordering it again.
BREAKING NEWS !!!!!!!!!
Recently, I traveled in Nevada, Idaho, Montana, Washington, Oregon and Northern California. In the three weeks on the road I bought a daily paper and was totally amazed that at no time was I reading anything about Orange County. Am I missing something or does the Orange County Register fail to recognize the rest of the nation?
What a RIP OFF!!! Domino’s skillfully doesn’t make any reference to the prices on the pasta, other than “Starting at . . .” I stopped at one store and ordered two. $14.00, not $10.00 (like 2 X 4.99). BEWARE of the “Starting At . . .” thing. This made a real impression on me . .So Long Domino’s, I will NOT be back. Wish I had seen MikeInLA’s comments before I went . . .maybe the food is better in LA too.
This is by far the best pasta I can get delivered and the price is rigth.
Why would anyone think that either of these would be anything but garbage? They are simply frozen TV dinner pasta run through their pizza ovens. Just about any independent place can deliver far superior pasta dishes to that crap because they have the equipment to make fresh pasta. Not something that was made in a factory somewhere 2 months ago and trucked in frozen
Domeino not so gud
