Dubbed the Great Start for Great Teachers, Starbucks is giving educators a free jolt this month.
Here are the details:
“The in-store offer provides teachers, grades K-12, one complimentary tall (12 fl. oz.) size cup of fresh brewed Pike Place Roast or House Blend (in Canada and in Licensed Stores who opt into the program) on Mondays during the month of September,” the company said in a statement.
Teachers will be asked to show a form of identification, such as a school district badge or teacher’s federation card. Starbucks is not widely publicizing this offer, so spread the word to any java lovin’ teacher that you know.
This is an amazing offer! Teachers deserve things like this! Thank you.
Thank you very much for this generous offer.
What about those of us who don’t drink coffee? How about tea???
You know there’s something about people who are never satisfied!!! Life isn’t fair is the lesson learned here, B. Kitchens. You’ll get your freebie elsewhere.
WOW - I can not wait to tell them. Thank you so much - They deserve this and so much more - Thank You, Thank You, Thank You

Teachers already get 4-5 months off a year, why do they need free coffee too? How about rewarding a profession that works 52 weeks a year?
This is in response to Brandy’s (#9) comment: you THINK that teachers really only work 7-8 months a year? THINK AGAIN AND DO YOUR RESEARCH!!!! #1…not all schools have summers off #2, even the schools that HAVE summers off, teachers are working diligently through the summer to plan for the year, adjusting their curriculum based on the needs of students, preparing their classrooms for the year, as well as taking classes to further their own education. It is so much more complicated than meets the eye. teaching is not a 9-5 job, it goes way beyond what is spent during classroom time. Plus, teachers do not have all the same days off as students, they have board meetings, summer programs that they are involved in among many other things. DO YOUR RESEARCH and THINK before you speak next time, ok?
In addition, teachers DO NOT GET PAID A FULL YEAR SALARY! I have taught for nine years, am a well respected teacher and now make $30,000.
Complain, complain, complain….thats about all I ever hear teachers do. Did you not know when you entered the profession that you would be UNDERPAID and UNDER APPRECIATED? But you did it anyway!
Don’t get me wrong…I am not trying to knock teachers, because many of my friends and family members are teachers. But, the overwhelming tone of our conversations leads with them BITCHING about how horrible they are treated, by the system, the parents and the kids. Then it’s about the money…then it’s about the long hours and lack of government funding. We all know you work hard , teachers, but if you are SO UNHAPPY then I suggest you make a change in your life! Do something that you will still be able to help others but with a cheerful and a greatful heart…not one that is resentful and angry at his/her circumstances.
Just my 2 cents…
Isn’t this site supposed to be about coffee?
by no means am I a resentful teacher. I love what I do and yes, I did understand what I was getting into when I got into teaching. Did I mention money once? No, i mentioned time. I do not resent the time that goes into teaching…i spend that time because it is meaningful and it is about education. Did I mention I was unhappy? no, I love teaching, however it is frustrating that people underestimate what goes into teaching. Teachers are stigmatized and underestimated. Obviously other people complain about their jobs too, which is why this was started in the first place. I did not say I was treated horrible by the system or the kids…I was merely stating the facts of the issue, if you will go back and reread. Thank you for your 2 cents Jean….theres mine
Why give teachers free coffee? They are already overpaid and draining the state budget with their extravagent pensions…How about a free cup of coffee for blue collar workers?
SO tired of the teachers, fireman and police, etc. cheerleading. These people have enough perks. They live off taxpayer’s dollars. They are more than adequately paid for what they do. The true heros are the business owners that create jobs and are the foundation of ourt country. That is who you should be giving free coffee to.
Not these people.
A world of sheep.
