Attention weekend gamblers: Las Vegas is now home to an Original Tommy’s — maker of legendary chili-slathered burgers.
Although the chain operates a burger joint in Henderson, NV, this is technically the first Tommy’s in Las Vegas. (Address: 5208 Boulder Highway)
The Henderson burger joint opened a year ago, resulting in swarming crowds. So far, the foot traffic has been light at the new Tommy’s, which opened earlier this week, said Robert Castaneda, vice president of operations for the Los Angeles burger chain.
He told me he expects foot traffic to pick up as word spreads of the new location, which is about six miles away from the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino.
Other Tommy’s news:
For those of you who miss Diedrich Coffee cafes, don’t fret. You can get Diedrich Coffee at any Tommy’s for 90 cents (regular) or $1.10 (large). Castaneda, who formerly worked at the Huntington Beach-based Charo Chicken chain, said he switched to the Irvine-based coffee roaster because he was a fan of the old Diedrich cafes.

Boulder Highway, really? It’s close to Sam’s Town (a completely enclosed/fully air-conditioned habit-trail catering primarily to senior citizens), but not so close as to be walking distance (at least not in 108F heat with up to an inch of rain in 30 minutes during the late afternoon monsoon). Most of the seniors have cars and it can’t be more than a block or so, but how are they going to know to go there? And it’s not exactly real safe to be out after dark in that area. With the 215 redirecting all the Lake-traffic off the surface streets now and a FatBurger or In-n-Out on every corner, that location is going to have to work pretty hard to market itself.
The new Tommy’s in Henderson on the other hand is in an extremely affluent area, next door to the new $185 million St. Rose Hospital down the hill from Anthem (a huge master planned senior community that makes Laguna Woods look like South Central LA) and up the hill from Silverado Ranch (the newest fully-completed area for the 30-60 crowd) and down the street (St. Rose Pkwy) from Green Valley South to the East (where Green Valley Ranch Resort is at), the new W hotel (just topped off on Friday) and Southern Highlands to the North (which was the one of the latest master planned Irvine-like communities that totally sold out but has blocks of vacant houses and is just now getting critical infrastructure).
Tommy’s Hamburgers is different than any ordinary burger joint. They pride themselves in serving only fresh, not frozen patties. The chili is AMAZING, and puts the perfect touch to any item on their menu. Not to mention the shakes….they are perfect after a hot and humid day in Vegas. I am an avid fan of Tommy’s and believe once you too have tried it, you will keep on going back!!
YUMMY
I wanted to know how do I apply there
