Sprouts Famers Market, which is earning a reputation as the “affordable” natural foods store in the West Coast, is opening its second Orange County location July 25 in Tustin.
The store began advertising its grand-opening in direct mailers sent to homes last week. Sprouts is replacing the spot once occupied by Whole Foods, which moved last year to a larger location at the District shopping center in Tustin.
Sprouts is sure to please fans of the old Whole Foods. Many people flock to the store for its affordable prices on everything from produce to organic cereal. Some say the Arizona-based chain reminds them of Henry’s Farmers Market.
The 24,000-square-foot Tustin market will offer “a great variety of organic foods, including organic produce from local growers,” the company said. To learn more about Sprouts, read my previous dispatch about my visit to the Irvine Sprouts.
The store opens at 8 a.m. July 25. A “grand opening” is set for July 30.
Address: 14945 Holt Ave., Tustin. A third Orange County store is planned for Seal Beach at 12301 Seal Beach Blvd. That store is slated to open Sept. 10.

this is a little bit off the topic of this post, but what is up with whole foods? what is their reasoning for having only ONE store in orange county? areas smaller than o.c. (las vegas, phoenix, sacramento, among others) have multiple whole foods markets. it makes absolutely no sense to me that they have one location in a county this large in terms of both population (3 million people) and area (60 miles at least).
i rarely go to the one in tustin because it’s ridiculously crowded. would it kill them to open a couple more stores around here?
I am so excited for Sprouts to open. And by the way I totally agree with Nick’s above comment.
Yeah–Someone else has finally complained about the lack of Whole Foods in the OC. It is beyond reason to me that they do not put a Whole Foods or a Sprouts in South Orange County. Geez there is more expendable income in these areas than in most. What kind of Marketing/location Guru’s do these chains have scouting for them? If Californias are unhealthy and overweight–maybe it is because we do not have enough exposure to affordable, healthy markets. Come on Stores–Wake up and put stores where people want them!!!
