Some freebie events happening today, July 11:

• All 7-Eleven stores in Orange, Los Angeles and San Bernardino counties are giving away free Slurpees. That’s it. Go in and get one, while supplies last. The promotion is tied to the the chain’s 81st birthday. “Each participating 7-Eleven anticipates a large number of customers and have ordered supplies accordingly,” a spokesman told me.
• Also, if you dress-up like a cow and show up at any Chick-fil-A, the chain will give you a free meal. The annual event is dubbed Cow Appreciation Day. For more details, click here. (Hint: if you don’t have a cow suit, be creative. Try wearing a Chick-fil-A shirt, and some make-up — and see if that works. I bet it does.)
• Also — not today but. …: Wienerschnitzel eateries are giving away a free chili dog or ice cream Tuesday — July 15 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
