O.C. fair to debut deep fried White Castle burgers & Spam

O.C. Fair will debut Deep Fried White Castle burgers, when fair starts July 11.

The O.C. Fair, scheduled to start July 11, will debut two new fried foods that are sure to be a hit with fast-foodies: deep fried White Castle burgers and fried Spam.

“Oh, my!” was my first reaction when I first learned about the fried eats from fair spokesman Jeff Willson.

Turns out, Willson got to taste the fried sliders during the San Diego fair, underway now.

He sent me the photo, followed by this instant review: “Really good with hot sauce,” he said.

The White Castle burgers will run $5.75 with fries. (And, yes, it’s deep fried with the bun.)

Fair-goers can find the deep fried burgers at Chicken Charlie’s. The booth has become the go-to hot spot for all things fried at the fair. Remember, the deep fried Twinkie, deep fried Frog Legs and the Krispy Kreme Sandwich?

Crazy fair factoid: Last year, Chicken Charlie’s sold three tons of deep fried frog legs.

Also, new at Charlie’s booth this year: deep fried Spam and fried cheese ravioli. I’m not sure about eating the cheese ravioli. But, you can bet I’ll be among the first to try the deep fried White Castle burgers and Spam.

In case you don’t want to go into cardiac arrest eating all these fried foods, Chicken Charlie’s is also launching a few — dare I say — healthier items. For the first time, the booth plans to sell grilled chicken kabobs with fresh-made hummus and rotisserie chicken.

See you at the fair.

How bout a free lobster and steak dinner and throw in some concert tickets in too. The price of the burger isn’t bad but overall the fair food is too expensive. I am ashamed to say that I spend over $80 on food and drinks last year. I plan on going to In & Out afterwards this year. I am done financing the boards shenanigans.

The grilled chicken kabobs with hummus sound delicious, but I don’t think I could stomache a deep fried slider. I love sliders, but enough is enough.

That White Castle burger and fries look like a FABULOUSLY decadent treat. *drools*

Anyone know if they’ll be selling the Hucowamongous burgers again this year at the fair?

So, I tried the deep fried Whitecastle. I’ve gotta say it wasn’t that great! Pretty tasteless. The Krispy Kreme chicken sandwich last year was MUCH better. Oh well, I would’ve kicked myself if I hadn’t tried it!

It would be a let down! I wouldn’t stress over it! I was so looking forward to it, and was just blah. Always looking for a good burger! Is there an ETA on the 5 GUYS OC yet?
