McDonald’s to hand out free chicken sandwiches

Boy, McDonald’s has been generous lately. The fast-food giant will host, once again, another national freebie event.
Last time, it was iced coffee. On May 15, it will be chicken sandwiches. The chain will give out samples of its new Southern Style chicken biscuit and sandwich items on that day with the purchase of a medium or large beverage.
The new chicken items debuted today in restaurants nationwide. The biscuit is the first chicken breakfast product to debut at McDonald’s — which owns the fast-food morning grub category. McDonald’s expects to giveaway 2 million Southern Style Chicken Biscuits and 6 million Southern Style Chicken Sandwiches during the promotion.
Giveaway hours on Thursday, May 15: 7 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. for the breakfast biscuit; and
after breakfast until 7 p.m. for the new chicken sandwich.
For freebie skeptics: During the iced coffee giveaway, many of us were frustrated by the measly little samples we got.
So, I asked McDonald’s “How big?” A marketing rep said: “Full size.” So there, you have it. If you get a tiny appetizer, report back to me at once!

I thought it was May 7th. I got the free chicken sandwiches today but they were just a dry chicken with two pickles on a regular bun (no sesame). There was no sauce or anything else on it. I was kind of disaapointed. If the whole point was to get people to buy their new sandwiches, then their plan has backfired.

Yikes..Jenny you scared me..I thought I made a mistake..No, the press release, says, May 15…I wonder why you got a freebie today?
From the early reviews, i can see why they are giving them away.

I had a chicken biscuit this morning and they have cut down on the size of the chicken. Until today i use to love the chicken biscuit. I will not buy another one from them ever. Go up on theprice and cut the meat.

The new Chicken sandwich is a copy of the Chik Fil A sandwich which they are famous for. It is just bun, chicken and Pickle. I have tried this sandwich already and being a fan of Chik Fil A thought it was pretty good, I asked for a packet of mayo. This new sandwich has also been on McDonalds menu for some time in the South East. I had it in Atlanta back in Feb and was hoping it would make its way out here.
If you like the Chik Fil A sandwich but dont have one close, this sandwich should satisfy you. It is not a typical McDonalds sandwich, very plain.

Tried the Chicken Biscuit breakfast this morning. 10 am, no line at drive thru or inside restaurant. I purchased a medium iced coffee (with 2 shots of hazelnut instead of 4) and the counter person pointed to the sign in front of the register - “Would you like the chicken biscuit?” SURE! $2.04 later had a decent breakfast. I’m a sausage mcmuffin fan, but I’d buy this too. Crispy, flavorful portion of chicken in the McDonalds breakfast biscuit.
I’ve always found the McD’s biscuit to be slightly salty for my taste. And the fried chicken was just a bit on the oily side (I’d squeeze it between two napkins next time), so not a healthy everyday breakfast, but a treat once in a while (or when my stomach is growling and I’m running late for work in the morning).
I’m liking these McDonald’s freebies.

I tried the “new” chicken sandwich for lunch the other day and it was awful!!! I got it for free so it wasn’t a loss, but don’t waste your money.

Tried the chicken sandwich at the McD’s on Beach at Katella…not impressed. I expected something crispy, not soft.

I bought the dinner sandwich and it wasn’t inspiring or made of the stuff that would make me want to purchase another one. It’s clear this is a knockoff of the Chik and reveals nothing except for a plain bun, pickle and semi dry chicken. If they want to outChik Chik they need to do more than have a poor replica. I have my own personal test which says food is memorable (fast food or otherwise) if 3 days later it brings back a warm smile or refreshes a satisfying experience. Sadly, I don’t care to ever purchase this product again. I’d much rather search out the nearest Chik than buy one of these McDonald’s sandwiches. I don’t expect In-n-Out to make Big Macs and vice versa. I don’t think this item will remain on the menu and will quietly disappear, much like their McRib and the other lite menu items.
