Domino’s and Pizza Hut continue smack talk

I’ve had a good time reading the smack talk going down between Domino’s Pizza and Pizza Hut, lately.
Here’s the latest: On Wednesday morning, Pizza Hut boldly proclaimed it’s Pizza Mia deal, three medium pies for $5 each, was superior to Domino’s Pizza. The latter pizza chain offers a similar”444″ bundling deal — only the price at Domino’s is a buck-per-pie cheaper.
Pizza Hut statement: “The competition offers a value pizza with a catch - it’s a smaller size. But we didn’t want to do that. Instead, we’re offering a larger medium pizza for $5 that is great tasting, too. While other pizza chains may flaunt deals on three pizzas for $4, don’t be fooled by the numbers - the low price means less pizza.”
A few hours later, Domino’s responded: “We’re surprised and delighted that our esteemed competitor has chosen to devote a press release to us. But we must ask - given that a corporation like Pizza Hut spent an entire press release dedicated to talking about size, it makes us wonder: do they have pizza - or pepperoni - envy?”
Let’s end this madness now.
Tell us:

My family and I recently purchased the Pizza Hut $5.00 pizza deal. We were charged for extra cheese, but when we got the pizzas home, there was almost NO cheese at all! We all agreed that the Pizza Mia pizzas were not good, certainly not to the standards that Pizza Hut used to maintain. We am more likely to purchase Domino’s Pizzas next time, or if we are going to be stuck with a mediocre pizza, then we might just as well go to Little Ceasars.

If you want cardboard, get Domino’s pizza. If you want quality, get Pizza Hut. My husband didn’t like Pizza Hut’s pizza, but then he tried the Pizza Mia, and now he LOVES them!!

April 16th, 2008 at 8:58 am
The quality and freshness of ingredients, and therefore the taste, is always better at Pizza Hut.
April 16th, 2008 at 9:29 am
we cant compare…i stay in nepal where we dont get both…but in india when i go there… i have tried both the places…….i found both unique and equally good….

Pizza Hut clearly has the superior appetite pleaser and I’m suprized any self-respecting pizza lover would even think about ordering from Domino’s. D’s could give their pizza away and it still wouldn’t hit the spot, they need some better dough (something that doesn’t taste like cardboard would be nice) and sauce that doesn’t make you want to gag. The cheese on both PH and D’s could be a little more generous, but hey, what do you expect for $5 - just order extra cheese - it’s still the best meal you’re going to get for this pricepoint.

It is hard for me to see how ANYONE could take Pizza Hut over Dominos. First, Pizza Hut wasn’t even clever enough to come up with their own promotion. If you all remember it was Dominos Pizza that invented the outragiously popular 555 deal. For 3 or more medium 1 topping pizzas hand tossed OR thin crust. And if extra cheese is your topping you DON”T pay extra. With Pizza Hut you pay extra for hand tossed dough (Read the fine print). So you are stuck with their “Pan” pizza. Which is a frozen disc of dough placed in a grease filled pan to thaw. MMMMMMMM sounds good to me. Can’t wait to get that grease to my table and in my kids mouths. Second lets take a look at what you get for your money. Call you local Pizza Hut and ask how many pepperoni come on their 12″ medium frozen disc and then call Dominos and see how many come on their hand stretch 10″ pizza. You will find that inch for inch you are getting MORE for you money with Dominos. They came up with ANOTHER groundbreaking deal for families like mine who need to feed a lot of people but have less money to spend. So thank you Dominos for thinking of me instead of outdoing the competition. You have MY $4.

PIZZA HUT is waaaaay better than dominoes!!!
April 16th, 2008 at 10:31 am
I used to not care what kind of pizza I ate, but every since Pizza Hut started the online delivery, I began ordering Pizza Hut more, and now it’s a no brainer. Anytime I am at some one else’s house and they order Domino’s or Papa John’s I will try to eat just to be nice, but I am really thinking I want to barf and go get some Pizza Hut.
April 16th, 2008 at 11:45 am
{Pizza hut is far superior to Dominos. They have more variety of food they offer. I believe they had online ordering before Dominos. They have a sit in lunch Buffet that’s great. They also have a more casual way of advertising that Dominos.

Pizza Hut must not remember that Domino’s was first to market with the 5-5-5 deal, and still offer 3 Medium pizzas for $5.55 each. The Pizza Mia is a lower-cost pizza for Pizza Hut, made with different ingredients (and less of them) than the standard pizzas. Domino’s 4-4-4 deal uses the same high quality ingredients they use in all their pizzas, and offers a pizza that is a reasonable size for 2 people to share. Not to be a huge Domino’s cheerleader, just saying that Domino’s is a better value for the money hands down.

Domino’s Pizza is SOOOOOO Much better. Taste, Delivery, Everything.
Pizza Hut Pizza tastes stale and never arrives warm.
April 16th, 2008 at 2:01 pm

April 16th, 2008 at 2:21 pm
Domino’s is MUCH better! I ordered the deal the other day and everyone ordered exactly what they wanted on each pizza. We also used the cool tracking thing on their website. We knew right when it was going to get there and even the name of the delivery person. It was delicious!
April 16th, 2008 at 2:24 pm
hey fatties,
enjoy your pizzas.
April 16th, 2008 at 2:30 pm
Not sure if anyone cares, but Domino’s is healthier for you than Pizza Hut. I’m not saying that Domino’s is healthy… it’s just better for you than Pizza Hut. If you want to choose, eat this (Domino’s) not that (Pizza Hut).
April 16th, 2008 at 2:34 pm
Dominos tastes like you’re eating sweet cardboard….want flavor and quality order from Pizza Hut!
April 16th, 2008 at 2:34 pm
Pizza Hut pizza is way better than Domino’s. Its like you are eating card board if you buy Domino’s pizza…and i dont know what poeple are talking about when they say Pizza Hut doesn’t have good service! They are always nice and give the best deal that is possible to please you! Thats why I voted for Pizza Hut!
April 16th, 2008 at 2:51 pm
Ordered Domino’s for the first time in a long time yesterday and was impressed. Online ordering was easy, pizza tracker was really cool (I knew the moment Jeff left the store with my pizza!) and tasted better than I remembered. Honestly, the only reason I ordered was because it was cheaper, but they may have just gotten a loyal customer out of the deal.
April 16th, 2008 at 3:16 pm
Pizza Hut’s pizza is by faaaaaar better than domino’s in my opinion. Domino’s pizza has a sour tasting tomato sauce and by the time you get your delivery, the cheese is no longer hot and melted… it’s like a mat of cheese just laying on top of the pizza.
April 16th, 2008 at 3:24 pm
Domino’s!!!!!!!!!
April 16th, 2008 at 3:34 pm
I used to eat Pizza Hut before I found out they use real human babies in their pepperoni. So I guess if you like eating babies, then Pizza Hut is for you. But don’t you feel like a jerk?
April 16th, 2008 at 4:19 pm
I have been eating pizza from both since the mid 70’s and must say that Domino’s is my pizza of choice. I thought it was amazing that a company would deliver food to me when I first discovered Domino’s delivers and feel Head over Hate for the “Noid.” If you’re going for quality, Domino’s is the choice. If you’re looking for a great price, then Domino’s is top there as well. If you’re looking for a place to sit down to eat a pizza, then stay at home and call Domino’s because they are usually there within 5-10 of their quoted time. Pizza Hut is usually there in a couple of hours. For quality service, product and price; Dominos is the right choice everytime.
April 16th, 2008 at 6:04 pm
Pizza Hut be Yummy! Domino’s, not so much!
April 16th, 2008 at 7:31 pm
Everyone knows that Domino’s pizza are sloppy and generic, they could’nt hold a candle next to Pizza Hut. I eaten Pizza Hut all over the United States and never had a problem. Its just like staying in the Ritz Carlton (Pizza Hut) or Staying at Motel 6(Domino’s). Iam looking for great taste not great price.
April 16th, 2008 at 10:38 pm
In Australia, Pizza Hut is the best tasing pizza by far. Domino’s here is terrible, every pizza (no matter what the topping is) has the same bland taste (I agree, cardboard). Also the service at Pizza Hut is so much better than Domino’s. You call up to place an order with Domino’s and can’t hear a thing they’re saying for all the background shop noise, Pizza Hut has a call centre which is quiet, so much better to order. All pizza’s from Pizza Hut are $5 each for lunch and $6 each for dinner (no coupon, no min. order), Domino’s are $7 for lunch and $9 for dinner…
Long live the Hut!!!!!!!!!!! DIE DOMINO’S DIE!!!!!!!!!!
April 17th, 2008 at 12:14 am
Pizza Hut SUCKS!! Bad Pizza Bad Service… And now Pasta Hut? Why don’t they start selling hard liquor to make more money if they have to keep adding Items to their menu just to keep from going out of business! I LOVE Domino’s!!! Bring back the NOID!
April 17th, 2008 at 6:00 am
Domino’s Pizza is much better than Pizza Hut. Yes Domino’s deal are smaller pizzas but have more toppings & cheese than Pizza Hut’s deal. Domino’s is the best!!!
April 17th, 2008 at 6:12 am
Domino’s 4-4-4 deal is really small. The pizzas are tiny and they have the nerve to call the pizza “Full Size”…. It’s “Fool Size”!!!!
Pizza Hut rocks!
April 17th, 2008 at 7:43 am
Pleazzzzzzzzzzzzzz… when ever you buy Pizza from Pizza Hut you need a roll of paper towel to battle all of the grease that comes out from a single slice…………….. it is like eating 100% cholesterol righ there!!!!!!!!! Thanks Dominos for all of the choices and a great tasting Pizza.
April 17th, 2008 at 8:39 am
Among the many reasons Dominos is far worse than Pizza Hut:
They have a rule that you must leave 1.5 inches of crust bare around the edge, because they’re cheap on toppings. Not only is the $4 tiny, it (presumably) also has 3 inches of its diameter bare, making it really a 7″ pizza.
That’s pathetic.
April 17th, 2008 at 8:55 am
I’m absolutely stunned by all these comments…keep it coming…
April 17th, 2008 at 9:44 am
KAZ,
Before you make statements of fact, you should know what your talking about. Domino’s “rule” is to bring the sauce, cheese and toppings to 3/4″ from the edge of a hand tossed, 1/2″ on a thin crust. Any variance of more than 1/4″ from these guidelines means it’s a re-make. I doubt you’ve ever seen a pizza from Domino’s with 1.5″ of empty crust - if you have, use the “contact us” on Dominos.com and let corporate know so they can retrain your local store.
April 17th, 2008 at 9:47 am
End the madness by all going to Papa John’s.
April 17th, 2008 at 2:38 pm
They both suck!!!
Go to Costco….they have like 12 huge slices for $10 bucks and it’s not all greasy and gross like Pizza hut!
April 17th, 2008 at 4:49 pm
Domino’s made 10 of us sick
Pizza Hut is yummy!
Papa Johns - well… this is the only company that deliver to my house! I do love Papa Johns!
April 17th, 2008 at 5:07 pm
All hail the Hut! Earth is a Hut system!
While I’m not a huge fan of the Pizza Mio it still better because Domino’s pizza crust lacks any flavor.
April 17th, 2008 at 6:45 pm
Domino’s Pizza is slightly better but Pizza Hut’s pizza has become much better and there is certainly more variety.
If I have to eat pizza from a chain, I’d rather have Little Caesars unless Godfather’s, Noble Romans, or Cassano’s has a local outlet. Sam’s Club has good pizza and strangely, it’s better than the Wal-Mart equivalent.
April 17th, 2008 at 10:06 pm
Pizza? A Slice of New York in Seal Beach. Enough said.
April 17th, 2008 at 10:33 pm
If u wanna eat pizza hut u might as well go to ur local food depot and get sum frozen dough and put it in a half washed nasty pan with sum grease run it through a oven and have it at your door at least an hour later..yummy. why ake the fun out of a real pizza when u gotta eat a thawed out pizza from a pan that the employees so hate to wash. ask anyone that work there….i know i did. there pizaa is just plain old nasty and unhealthy…go dominos
April 18th, 2008 at 5:33 pm
People sit here and talk bad about Domino’s ingredients. First off Pizza Hut has frozen EVERYTHING! Their sauce they add water so its really not sauce. And if they run out of pizza sauce for their breadsticks they will give you the pizza mia sauce which is NASTY! Also, Domino’s will give you the pizza they messed up plus a new one. Pizza Hut will say ok it will be 10 minutes and not even offer you something for you having to wait longer for them to remake it. Domino’s makes everything fresh unlike Pizza Hut.
April 20th, 2008 at 9:52 pm
What amazes me is how Domino’s has more votes and yet Pizza Hut has way more people on here. What a bunch of whiners. It’s true if I want high quality pizza I’ll probably hit a nice Italian joint or sit down Pizzeria(although the Brooklyn at Domino’s is pretty close… even my NewYork boy Rob says it’s one of the best in town). However, if I am looking for value… I demand price and taste. Pizza Smut has never been that great tasting to me… although they are quite affordable. Domino’s on the other hand, I hated back in the day of the Noid ( loved the Noid himself, though). But now they’re making some great pizza that way out-top “the Smut’s” pizzas (especially the Mia).
So I eat with the Domino’s crew that seem relatively silent on here (probably spending there time enjoying their 4-4-4 deal….
One last thing… when I ordered my pizza earlier tonight online, then went back to track it, not only did it tell me Bill was delivering it but, prior to that Alex made it, and Tyler took my order. What a cool tracking system…
