Here’s the results of the Tacos & Co. taco-eating smack down match, held earlier this week in Irvine.

Of the 23 contestants, most were students from UC Irvine and all were men except the winner: Karina Muniz. (shown, above)tacos_2ndplace.jpg

Muniz, who entered the contest last minute as a walk-in, wolfed down eight California Tacos (chicken, lettuce, tomatoes and cheese on a soft corn tortilla) in 4 minutes. Her prize: a $100 gift certificate for Tacos & Co., which has five fast-casual Mexican food restaurants in Orange County.

Muniz beat UCI student Jeff Wong, who ate seven tacos in 4 minutes. He got a$50 gift certificate. Wong is shown, right.
