White Castle slyders by candlelight?

Yes, you read that headline correctly.
White Castle is giving burger lovers a chance for a cheap date on Valentine’s Day. For the third year in a row, select burger chains are taking reservations for a “candlelight dining” experience Thursday (2-14) from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
West Coast fast food fans will have to miss out on this chance for a romantic rendezvous over onions, pickles and square-size burgers.
Unfortunately, White Castle doesn’t have restaurant locations in California.
The closest encounter we have with the chain’s famous “slyders” are the frozen mini-burgers sold in local supermarkets.
If White Castle did make its way out West, chain spokesman Eddie Smith told me: “We’d give In-N-Out a run for its money.”
I’m not sure about that.
But, I’d love to see that burger battle some day.

Somebody is fooling somebody…White Castle had at least three units out here in Southern California in the early eighties.
One was on Ball Road at either Brookhurst or Euclid in a converted “drive-in” restaurant. One was on Brookhurst just south of Garden Grove Blvd, and the third one was near the circle in Long Beach …PCH & Zimino. I think a Burger King sits there now. I guess we just didn’t have enough east-coasters around to keep them in business. Jimbo
