This looks like a fun food demo to watch.

Ruby Palace in Huntington Beach is celebrating the Chinese New Year by offering free demonstrations of the ancient art form of Chinese noodle-making.

The centuries-old tradition will take place over the next two weekends, starting today (2/8) from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Other demonstrations will occur during the same time on Saturday (Feb. 9), Feb. 15 and Feb. 16.

Chinese noodles are made with one pound of dough, one knife and a pair of experienced hands, said Ruby Palace owner Domingo Hsu.

According to Chinese custom– the longer the noodles, the longer one can expect to live.

“It’s a very difficult art to master; as we have only learned from our father and his father before him,” said owner Hsu, who runs the business with his brother, Jeff.

No purchase is necessary. Ruby Palace Chinese Restaurant is at 18330 Beach Blvd.
