Burger King is expected to roll out a $1 double cheeseburger next year in three yet to be disclosed markets, according to reports in Business Week and the Wall Street Journal.
“Some Los Angeles-area Burger Kings said Tuesday they have been selling double cheeseburgers for 99 cents for several weeks,” one article stated.![]()
Value is huge right now for consumers so I can see why Burger King would add this kind of offering to its dollar menu. Earlier this year, the chain launched a Breakfast Value Menu, which included a Hamlette sandwich.
If you spot any dollar double cheeseburgers in the Orange County area, let me know. I’m curious to see if it will be as beefy as the Double Whopper with cheese, shown right.

Burger King used to have a $1 double cheeseburger before. It was simple: just meat, cheese, pickles and ketchup. In my opinion, it’s tastier and bigger than McDonald’s double cheeseburger. It was my lunch staple, along with their Hershey’s sundae pie. The best $2 lunch ever! If they bring it back, I’ll be a returning customer!
Saw this on the AP site and Nasdaq’s and was pretty thrown by it. We’ve had a $1 dbl.cheese for about two years out here now. On a big blue banner/poster at every local BK. This must be a regional thing that’s only been implemented around here (the OC). And, no, it’s not as big as a Double Whopper w/ cheese. About the size of two Whopper *Jr.s* with cheese. We even have two BK’s still selling regular Whoppers for .99 cents (of course, the fries are about $1.99 for a small).
