Live on the Go offers free online ordering

A few weeks ago, I turned to Costa Mesa-based LiveOnTheGo.com when I couldn’t get out of the house to grab a meal. The fridge was empty, my daughter was sick and my husband was at work.

I needed delivery in a bad way. But, I wanted more choices than just pizza.live-on-the-go.jpg

As it turns out, Live on the Go gives you just that. The Web-based service, which launched last month, is a one-stop online ordering system featuring more than a 120 restaurants in Orange County. Just pick a restaurant and order for pickup or delivery.

Catch: Not all places deliver. But, you’ll be surprised by some of the eateries that do bring the food right to your door. Folks with Web-enabled mobile phones can also use the free service.

Read on for a list of restaurants:

This concept falls into the super-duper convenient food category, which makes the Maven a happy gal. I ended getting some tasty pastas from an independent Italian restaurant in Tustin. The food was promised within 45 minutes, and I got it in 44 minutes.

Check it out, and let me know what you think.

Some of the participating restaurants include Alessio in Laguna Niguel, Avanti Café in Costa Mesa, Brio in Dana Point, Café Jardin in Corona Del Mar, Carolina’s in Garden Grove, El Ranchito in Lake Forest, Harp Inn in Costa Mesa, Lenny’s Pizza & Pasta in Tustin, Lil’ Pickle in Costa Mesa, Mama D’s Italian Kitchen in Newport Beach, Meejana in Orange, Tradition by Pascal in Newport Beach.

I checked out my zip code-92806. Only 5 restaurants would deliver and 2 of those were separate Pasta Bravo locations. On top of that they all have large minumum orders ranging from $50-$300 with a $2 delivery fee. Maybe it works better in different areas but it’s definitely no good for Anaheim.

I know of a similar service that I use in the Orange County area called GimmeGrub.com. I use it to order pizza, mexican food, chinese etc. . .I haven’t heard of “live on the run” before, but I will check it out.

The delivery is great if the restaurants have it, but I use it for take-out a lot as well. I don’t have to order my food from somebody that doesn’t speak english well, and I don’t get the annoying “can I put you on hold” or “would you like to hear our specials” that I generally get when I call in.

Also, GimmeGrub.com is not only free, but also give 10% off at many locations when you order online.

Hooray for the convenience of online ordering!

I starting using it 4 weeks ago and love it! I called their office and they are adding more and more restaurants. I guess in NY this type of online ordering is really big. I dont need delivery nor do I want to pay for it, but with this free ordering service my food is there ready for me just to pick up. Walk in, foods ready in a green bag, and I am on my way. The thing to remember is that the site logs your past orders at each restuarant so now I can place my usual order in under a minute, leave my office, and when I get there my dinner is ready and paid for. Awesome site and will only get better once more restuarants learn about it! Glad you found them as well……

I tried Live on the Go based on this blog and because they were offering $10 off your first order. I ordered from Oggi’s Pizza in Tustin which had a delivery time of 45 minutes. I got my order in 90 minutes. Oggi’s didn’t seem to familiar with the process and they asked for my credit card even though I paid online. I contacted Live on the Go the next day, and they were going to clear up the situation with Oggi’s. They also gave me a $10 credit for my next order. Verdict: the concept is great, but I think the restaurants participating still need a better understanding of how it works.

I first tried Live On The Go last week and I thought it was great!!!!! I ordered from Oggi’s and the food was delivered within 30 minutes. I live in Orange so it wasn’t that close. Live On The Go is a great service and I am waiting for them to add more restaurants so I can use it more!!!

This service is good. It is easy to place an order and the selection is varied. I also have tried Gimmegrub.com and their website is harder to use. I had a problem from The Mad Greek Restaurant. When I contacted Gimmegrub.com, they were less than helpful. Live On The Go is great and I will use it again.

I started using Live On The Go about a month ago. I find it much easier to make my orders with this website rather than calling in my order, or going into the restaurant. I decide when I want to pick up my order, and when I go to pick it up it’s already paid for, how simple is that! The web site is also very easy to navigate through, unlike many other ordering sites. I would, and do, highly recommend this service to my family and friends.

I love, love, love!!! Live on the go…I am a full time student and mother. Being efficient is a high priority! The fact that you can order days weeks or months in advance is wonderful. Planninig ahead is made simple. The site is ffast and easy to use, lots of restaurants to choose from, with new ones being added all the time. Walk in the day and time you have choosen and walk out with your food….just that simple!

I tried ordering delivery from Live On The Go the other day. After sending the order, the restaurant called me up and told me that they can’t delivery to me because I was too far.

Then they asked me why I decided to fax in the order rather than call it in. I told them I didn’t fax, but ordered it on “Live On The Go”, and they asked me what that meant. Ok?!?! They don’t even know about Live On The Go? Weird.

Anyway, It took me awhile to get my order just right, so I was a bit upset. So then I tried ordering at a different restaurant after convincing my family to give it another try. It worked okay I guess. Most of the food was right, but it took about 20 minutes longer than expected.

I think I may take Mark’s advice and try out GimmeGrub.com. They seem to have some better restaurants anyway, and 10% off sounds pretty good.
